What’s best

What’s best? Cheap family holidays or going for a lavish family complex option? You decide…

Choosing the correct holiday for the whole of your family isn’t the easiest thing to do.  There are so many different options available to everyone it can be a tough call to make and if you’ve never taken the family away before it might seem like a real minefield to you.  Ultimately the two main things to consider are the value for money you are getting from any deal and possibly most importantly making the right decisions that will help keep your children happy.  Firstly, never be put off comparing all the different hotels and apartments in terms of their star rating, board basis’, facilities and activities on offer to you.  Work out if one place in particular stands out as being more cost effective than the others.  If there is a place that stands out and it suits your families needs too, then you know you could be onto something good.
Secondly, you need to remember that if your children are content and occupied whilst on holiday, then the more likely it is that everyone in your party will have a good time when you’re away.  When I recall what I was like as a child, I was most happy when I was with my friends and family just enjoying simple things like playing games on a beach or in the sea with loads of sunshine and freedom; I was in my element.  Kids like to do their own things and most of the time they are probably not bothered by anything too elaborate, they just want to play.  Just take Christmas for example, when all they are interested in is playing with the boxes and the bubble wrap instead of the actual presents themselves!
The freedom that a self catering deal gives you is brilliant, but just remember that it might end up being expensive if you have to pay for everything once you’re away.  If you choose to go all-inclusive instead, do some extra research and find out if it has the right family facilities (things like playgrounds and waterslides) for you, because the hotel won’t then just be a base; you will be spending a lot of time there.  You also need to consider whether your kids will want to eat at the hotel restaurant every night if they’re fussy eaters.  Whether you decide that cheap family holidays are right up your street or plum for something a little more exclusive, just make sure that you try to consider every angle, because after all making a bad decision on a holiday isn’t something anyone wants to do.
