Tips To Enjoy A Domestic Summer Holiday

Tips To Enjoy A Domestic Summer Holiday

There’s much talk of financial matters at the moment – if it’s not the continuing credit crunch on home shores then it’s the weakening of the pound against the euro. However, by taking advantage of the latter you can do your bit to help with the former.
Travelling in the eurozone at the moment means that Britons aren’t going to get as much for their money as they would have in recent times and it’s also true that they could get better value for money by staying in the UK.
Older generations often tell their stories from the summer holidays they spent in Britain and they have invariably had a good time. Old photos and postcards show of times when our own beaches were full, but this seems to be a thing of the past as it has become trendy to be well-travelled and to have seen far off lands.
It is, however, predicted that travelling around the UK is to rise and with so much on offer it’s difficult to see why it stopped being so popular.
For beach trips, Blackpool and Brighton are the obvious hotspots. With fairground attractions and donkey rides galore, they make a great day out for the whole family. If you want a quieter spot, the south coast of England has a myriad of beaches and is normally the hottest part of the country. Beaches near the smaller villages are generally quieter so there are plenty of options.
If you’re looking for an even quieter spot – approaching isolation – then the highlands and islands of Scotland can offer remote spots to allow you to find nature. The locations often have a friendly atmosphere and welcoming locals, as well as beautiful scenery to allow for long, peaceful strolls through the countryside.
Sporting events were always popular and with the npower Ashes coming to England this year you can make a city break to take in the cricket – whether you want to go to London, Cardiff, Birmingham or Leeds is up to you. Aside from cricket, these cities all have a host of other attractions from the modern back to the historic to keep you entertained.
Of course, there are other attractions dotted around the country. Stonehenge on the Salisbury Plains is a must-see while Cheddar Gorge in Somerset and the Snowdonia National Park in north Wales are often wrongly overlooked by busy tourists.
As you can see, there are many different ways to enjoy a summer holiday in Great Britain, all at the fraction of a cost of an expensive foreign vacation.
