Traveling to Barcelona in Spain

Barcelona is one of the most well known cities in Spain. It is the largest city in the country, and has a population of slightly over 1.5 million. It also has the second largest port in Spain, and is an important revenue generating city for the country. The city is well known for it’s romantic ambience, as well as it’s rich culture and history. You will also be able to observe fine architectural buildings in the city.
Traveling to Barcelona by air.
Barcelona International airport is located just 10 kilometers from the city center. The airport serves both International and domestic routes. Vueling Airlines, Clickair, Air Europa, Iberia Airlines and Spanair all have planes landing and taking off from this airport. There are three terminals in the airport, and tourists can expect to do some shopping during arrivals and departures.
Getting off the airport.
Upon arrival, your first considerations would most probably be to get some food. You can take a rest and dine at one of the restaurants in the airport. After that, you can decide on your mode of transport to ferry you from the airport to your accommodation. You can choose to travel by taxi, but traveling by taxi can be expensive. A cheaper and more affordable option would be to travel by bus. However, if you have preplanned your trip into Barcelona, you may even have a rented car waiting for you, complete with a driver. Your rented car will then take you to wherever you want to go with no hassle.
Accommodation in Barcelona.
There are many types of hotels you can choose from in Barcelona. Your choice ultimately depends on your budget and your personal preferences. If budget is not a concern, you can choose to stay in one of the more luxurious hotels (e.g. Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel). The location of the hotel is also very important. Obviously, you would want to stay in a hotel that is near to the destinations that you would be visiting. For example, if you like shopping, you may wish to consider staying in Intercontinental Princess Sofia Hotel, which is near to the shopping area. You can also choose hotels that are located near museums or directly in the city center. Be sure to visit the Picasso Museum and the Mira Museum.
The luxurious hotels come with more facilities, and the location is usually better. Therefore, your stay is likely to be more comfortable. However, if budget is a concern, you may opt to stay in a more affordable hotel. There are budget hotels available in the city, and they offer basic facilities such as clean rooms and sheets, as well as Internet access.
After a long day exploring the museums (by the way there are over 50 private and public museums in the city), you may want to take a day off and spend the next day at the beaches. The seafronts look clean and beautiful after a round of renovations, and you can expect to spend a relaxing and enjoyable day at the beach.
For the above reasons, thousands of tourists flock to Barcelona each and every year to enjoy the culture, the art, and the beaches.
