How to Avoid the Long Lines at Universal Studios Orlando

How to Avoid the Long Lines at Universal Studios Orlando

There is no doubt about it, visiting Universal Studios in Orlando can prove to be the ultimate vacation fun for the entire family. But don’t be too sure, as there are many things that can ruin a good time. One of the possible headaches that you might encounter during your visit to this place would be the very long waiting lines for the rides.

Imagine the scenario: you are so excited on riding the Revenge of the Mummy Ride but when you get there, you find that the lines are so long that you end up waiting for a solid one hour before you got your turn. Now, who would not be annoyed right?

Fortunately, you can employ some creative strategies to avoid the long lines at Universal Studios. Here are some of them:

Creative Tip # 1 – Be at the park when it opens

You might be whining, “This is not creative tip at all!” But do you know what? More than half of the crowds visiting Universal Studios in Orlando don’t get there until noon. If you arrive early during the park’s opening hour, you will have experienced so many rides without having to fall in long lines. Not to mention, you get to find a parking slot easily too.

Creative Tip # 2 – Go to the most popular rides first

When you arrive early enough to avoid the heavy crowds, go ride the most popular rides first, the ones that would be filled up with long lines by noontime. If you wait until all the people have come before you fall in line for these rides, arriving early won’t be a creative strategy anymore

Creative Tip # 3 – Eat an early lunch and ride during lunch hour

Most people eat around noon to 2 p.m. so this is the time when there are fewer people falling in line for the rides. So eat your lunch early so you can go during this time. Do the same for dinner. People take their dinner around 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Creative Tip # 4 – Ride during parades and fireworks shows

If you are not a parade or fireworks person, this is the best time to hit the rides because most people would be watching these fantastic shows.

Creative Tip # 5 – Stay at On-Site Hotels

There are three hotels located inside Universal Studios and those are the Hard Rock, Royal Pacific and Portofino, all of which offer wonderful accommodations and friendly service. Staying within the perimeters of the park allows you to arrive early and avoid the long lines. Moreover, you can use the keys to your room as a pass for the Express Lanes, which most of the popular rides at the park have.

Creative Tip # 6 – Go for the Single Rider

For people who don’t mind riding alone, you will get to save a lot of time by using the single rider line. Single riders can use this special line to cut down substantial waiting time.

Aside from waiting time, another thing that can make your trip go awry is improper planning. So it would be best to avail Universal Orlando Vacation packages so you don’t have to worry about the planning aspect anymore. Universal Studios Vacation Packages are widely available online. Just be sure to find a reliable and trustworthy online travel website.

Things to Do While Stuck in Traffic – Part One

Things to Do While Stuck in Traffic – Part One

As a well honed commuting machine, with more miles under my belt than rings around Saturn, I’ve found in order to keep my sanity it is KEY to have things to do to keep my mind busy when driving in lots of traffic. Yes, we can all turn on the radio and listen to non-stop chatter and the same 25 songs played over and over and over again – but when you commute for over an hour every day each way that runs out of steam and interest fast. Nothing’s more boring than the same old songs and the same old commercials on the radio.

Here is my list (part one) of other ideas to try. And remember – never do anything that impairs your driving skills and awareness!!

* IPOD or MP3 player

this will make your drive much more pleasant and much more interesting from the first moment you plug it into your car. You can choose your own music, books on tape or tv/movie or videos.

* Books-On-Tape

Novels, biographies, autobiographies, journals – expand your brain and let your mind have something new to think about.

* Learn a New Language

If you are in the car every day, you have a beautiful opportunity to learn a new language by listening to language CD’s. Practice every day for 30 minutes, and in one year you will amaze yourself with what you have learned!

* Make up a Silly Game with yourself

Count how many red cars you see one way on your commute – or practice mathmatical equations in your head – or write a song and sing it all the way home – or imagine what amazing new recipe you’re going to cook this weekend – or plan your next dream trip.

* Return Calls

You know the list of people that have called you …..and you’ve been too busy to call back? Get a car phone charger and put them on speaker phone. Keep your eyes on the road, and return those calls!!

Italy is famous for being the epicenter of the Great Renaissance of Europe. To this date, Italian cities carry the distinct mark of being the centers of great art, learning and history. Turin, known as Torino in Italy, is no exception.

While travelling in Turin, do make sure to spend some time at the city’s tourist hotspots.

First and foremost among these is the Mole Antonelliana, built in 1888 to be a synagogue it stands 167.5 metres tall. It is the highest structure in Europe built by masonry and is currently home to the National Cinema Museum of Italy ? one of the finest in Europe.

Next up in the list, though in no way inferior in importance is the Cathedral of St John the Baptist or the Duomo di San Giovanni. The controversial and mysterious Shroud of Turin resides here in a vault below the Chapel of the Shroud. The Shroud sadly is open for public viewing only in jubilee years ? the next of which is 2025.

For a taste of something completely different from the European civilization visit the Egyptian Museum Via Accademia delle Scienze. The Museum, housing over 30,000 exhibits was founded by King Carlo Felice in 1824 after he acquired the magnificent collection of Drovetti. Various fascinating insights into the Egyptian civilization can be gleaned here from objects as diverse as funeral furnishings and daily artifacts collected from a wide time span from the Paleolithic age to the Coptic.

Next, the famed Piazza Castello at the Palazzo Madama. Once home to the Queen, the Piazza has been created in a mixture of medieval and Baroque styles. A room with red sofas beckons weary travelers while the breathtaking beauty of the chandelier and of the art ? religious as well as secular or historical ? leave them basking in the aura of times of old.
