Looking for Budget Busting Holidays

If you’re dreaming of going on a holiday but feel restricted by your bank balance, then why not consider taking a shoestring break? With a budget holiday it’s possible to travel to major European cities and international destinations without having to spend a small fortune.
When it comes to actually reaching your destination of choice, look for budget flights and keep costs down from the outset. Depending on where you want to travel to you might be able to take a train, bus or even drive your own car, which may cost even less than booking budget flights. Therefore, conduct a bit of research into the various options available before making your final booking.
Accommodation is of course essential, unless you’re lucky enough to have friends or family to stay with. Once again, from taking your time to perform research into your options for accommodation, you should be able to find somewhere that suitably meets your budget.
Location of your accommodation can significantly impact upon your budget. Staying right in the city centre is generally the most expensive option, so you may want to investigate options slightly outside the city centre and see how much you can save. In fact, staying in the suburbs can even at times prove a real treat to stumble across.
If you haven’t already chosen your destination then further research will reveal that some cities are less expensive than others to visit. This could be a useful way to decide where to go and make your holiday funds stretch that little bit further.
Visiting the sights doesn’t necessarily mean taking a guided tour. You could equip yourself with a map and either walk or use public transport to explore whatever you want. If using public transport, you often find that buying a pass instead of a single ticket is a cheaper way to travel. You can usually choose from a day pass, three-day pass or even longer if need be.
What’s more, insurance is a travel essential and if you go abroad more than twice a year, an annual policy is likely to be better value than buying insurance for each individual trip.
Whether you’re searching for city breaks or simply a relaxing beach holiday, the time of year you choose to travel can also greatly affect the cost. Avoid school holidays as prices tend to rise then and avoid high season travel unless it’s an absolute must, as you will find prices often drop considerably in low season.
As you can see, from taking your time to perform some research it is possible to take great holidays on a shoestring.
