Getting around Koh Samui: Boats

Considering this is an island destination, there is one unique way of getting to the various cheap Koh Samui hotels and cheap Koh Samui resorts, and that is by boat. Obviously once you are on the island itself you are limited to land transportation, but if you choose to head out to one of the outlying islands or explore the coastal regions then a boat is definitely an option. In fact, they are the preferred method of getting to Koh Samui itself from the mainland, the airport, and Surat Thani. Depending on whether or not you want to rent a regular boat, a ferry, a sailboat or a speedboat is entirely up to you, but you can find plenty of places to hire a boat near the cheap Koh Samui hotels and cheap Koh Samui resorts, and in some cases the resorts might actually have their own rental service. One of the more unique ways to get to the island is by a high-speed ferry from Bangkok itself, although the trip takes around 11 hours.
