Coping With Early Morning Flights

Coping With Early Morning Flights

Nobody seems to like getting up early in the morning. And when you have an early morning flight to catch with a 7am check in – or earlier – you will barely have time to get to bed the previous night.
This isn’t ideal if you want to travel feeling refreshed. And it certainly isn’t ideal for safety’s sake if you are driving to the airport and not taking a taxi.
The important thing is to prepare for your flight, so you can minimise the effects that tiredness will have on you. Firstly make sure you have everything packed and checked in plenty of time. If you leave your packing until the last possible moment you will leave yourself open to feeling more stressed. The more prepared you are, the less likelihood there is of getting yourself into a panic.
It stands to reason that grabbing an early night is another good thing to do. If you are packed and ready to go nice and early, you will have the time to relax during the evening and get yourself in the right frame of mind for an early night.
You’ll improve your chances of sleeping well if you have a light meal for dinner and not something heavy that is likely to give you indigestion. It doesn’t have to be salad, but try to avoid rich sauces and alcohol in any quantity – regardless of whether you are driving yourself or not.
Keep away from those after dinner coffees too; the caffeine won’t help matters. In fact try and reduce the amount of caffeine you drink throughout the day. Don’t cut it out altogether if you are used to having it on a daily basis – you could get withdrawal headaches, and they won’t help you sleep at all!
A warm bath is another good suggestion. If you have one not too long before bed it will help you to relax and become sleepier.
Of course you can also influence the time you have to get up in the morning, no matter what time your flight may be due to take off. Some people with early flights choose to stay in a hotel the previous night, so they don’t have to get up quite so early. Depending on how close to the airport you live, this could be the best choice of all. Together with the steps above it can assure you of the best night’s sleep prior to your flight.
For example, if you have a flight booked from Glasgow Airport and you live an hour or two’s drive away, a hotel would be the ideal choice. There are plenty of cheap hotels in Glasgow that would put you within a couple of miles of the airport.
And that also puts you within easy reach of a longer – and better – night’s sleep.

Vivid Sculptures in Havana

Vivid Sculptures in Havana

There are a great amount of attractive statues in Havana. Some of them are emblematic and classic such as the Christ at the entrance of Havana’s bay or the statue of Jos? Mart? at the Revolution Square.

It can be very interesting to walk through the capital looking for vivid monuments of famous people of the past.

Some examples of them are everywhere, coming from different places and times. For example, let us mention a few but representative number of them.

Very closed to the Havanan Malec?n (wall) it can be seen a statue of Jos? Mart?, Cuban National Hero, wearing his classical frock coat and holding his son in his arms.

In the Avenida del Puerto (harbor avenue) near the trade zone of the bay, closed to the Paula Church, there stands very elegantly Agust?n Lara, the renown Mexican composer.

This statue was donated to Cuba by the people and the government of Veracruz in November of 2000 and makes us remember his romantic songs.

The visitor may also see statues of gods such as a marble Neptune that points out with his trident the way to Havana at the entrance of the bay.

However, less known people’s statues can also be found. That is the case of the one erected to Pierre Le Moyne O?Iberville, famous military man of New France, actually Canada, who was Fleet Admiral of King Louis XIV and died in Havana in 1706.

This statue was donated by Qu?bec authorities and was placed by the Office of Havana Historian’s workers in November 14th, 1999.

More unknown is, perhaps, the Japanese Hasehura Rokuemon Tsunenaga, hero of Sendai province in Japan, and whose monument perpetuates him as the first Japanese person who came into Cuba in 1614 in a park of this capital. Having a Japanese-Spanish explanation, and wearing a kimono, this man seems to suggest the 11 850 kilometers that separates both cities.

Another remarkable statue is the one erected to Francisco de Albear y Lara at the park with the same name immediately after his death in October 24th, 1887. This place is located in the surrounding areas of the famous restaurant El Floridita.

Don Francisco was the designer of the Havana’s aqueduct, master piece that is still functioning.

The fountain of this sculpture complex perpetuates the never-ending efforts of this man for providing Havana with a water system.

During the last years, sculptor Jorge Villa has been a protagonist within the city. Some of his sculptures have been raised in different places of this city: John Lennon quietly sitting in a bench at a park of 16 St., in Vedado; Ernest Hemingway leaning on the bar of El Floridita; devout Teresa of Calcutta seating at a bench of the San Francisco de Asis? basilica; or the “Caballero de Paris” walking as a perennial passer-by of Old Havana.

Meanwhile, some other immobile and nameless figures of beautiful undressed women keep their non-stop observation of Havana’s days, always animated by the flow and noise of either nationals or foreigners.

Statues are a real Cuban feast that pays homage to those famous persons who were fond of Havana.

The Dream Of Travel Remains Strong So Allow It To Grow

The Dream Of Travel Remains Strong So Allow It To Grow

I’ve heard a mind is a terrible thing to waste and yet, there are many activities in which I engage my mind in that are mainly a waste; is that a bit of irony? Due to circumstances each year, though I want to travel to far off places, I am remaining closer to my current location; left to the wild imagination of travel.

How ironic the internet is because of my ‘network‘ I am able to talk with others that are scattered throughout the world, questioning them on their places of residence and gathering images in which to re-stimulate my dreams of traveling.

The power of such a small devise to empower my ‘grey matter’.

When an image is captured within our minds or creative abilities sparkle and are allowed to run wild, painting additional scenery in which to bring this image into action, the smiles brought on release mind-chemicals which explode. By simply typing in a few terms, I can escape to an interesting area and allow ‘Mr. Imagination‘ to work his wonders.

The escape-ism in which creative imagination provides when lives are less empowered, through economic situations or downturns in work options, provides all of us an opportunity to “get-away” without the use of alternative substances. We can simply go online, type in a destination of interest, research then sit back and imagine our own movie breaking out.

The mind should always be allowed to conjure excitement through imagery and creative juices. Allowing a person to believe in themselves; even for moments in time, of travelling to locations in which they may never really visit, but this way, can be in thought.

Even though there are many opportunities online in which most anyone could create a way they could visit these locations once thought unobtainable, the surprising part is how many will not explore or take the necessary action to actually do so – in reality. They would rather sit and dream, wish and hope, but never try and succeed.

The mental struggles of placing some plan into action which would allow the traveling dream to materialize seems to them unreal. “Why Try?” they say, expecting nothing in return. Sure an effort may not return a desired result but could make a dream one step closer. Many steps lead to an experience.

While allowing imagination to take hold and provide the painting of another location, trying action to actually step into the picture remains ridiculous. The power of the internet is used, incorrectly here, due to lack of interest, so onward to another site for an empty painting canvass on the easel to create another false hope?
