How Much to Tip Bartenders, Waiters and Cab Drivers in Spain

How Much to Tip Bartenders, Waiters and Cab Drivers in Spain?

When you say Spain, most people think of Flamenco, bull fights, lots of sunshine, and fantastic beaches. However, Spain has so much to offer. For thousands of years, it is one of the cultural centers of Europe. It has beautiful towns and cities and tourists the chance to check out old and historical monuments along with futuristic and conventional architecture. The country attracts millions of tourist each year, if you’re one of them you may be tempted to learn a little bit about tipping etiquette.

In Spain, only bars accept tips. If you noticed, there is no sign in Spanish for tips. This is because the bar only expects American tourists to leave tips. They know that it is a custom in the States to leave tips for each drink or meal. Spanish people certainly won’t turn down extra money. However, you won’t see Spanish leaving tips themselves. Tipping is not common in Spain. Although in mid-price or expensive restaurants, Spanish leave bits of their change after they paid their bill. Unlike the Americans, they don’t dig into their pockets for tips.

Spain is different from England and France. In those countries, tipping is a must. If you really want to leave tips, then you can go for 5% as opposed to the standard 10%.

Another important advice is that you do not give cab drivers in Spain any tip. Just give them the cab fare. You also have to be careful of your things when riding the cab. They can smell a tourist from the locale. If you can, just take the public transportation.

The Spaniards say, “Spain is different.” They have traditions that are different from Europe as well as from the rest of the world. Their views on giving tips are one example of that difference.

Take a Break From Business and Take a Vacation at a Myrlte Beach Resort

Take a Break From Business and Take a Vacation at a Myrlte Beach Resort

Sometimes you just need to get away from the bustle and grind of your daily life. This was the conclusion my husband and I came to at the end of this past summer. It had been an extremely busy year for us because we opened our own business and although it is doing great, it is also keeping us on our toes to the extent of feeling like we even sleep standing up. We decided we needed to take a vacation before we hit maximum business overload. As responsible business owners, we decided to stick close enough to home to be available in the event of a business emergency, so we selected Myrtle Beach, SC as our getaway spot.
I have not been to the beach for years so when we got online to find a hotel the number of Myrtle Beach Resorts astounded us. There were so many to choose from, but we knew we needed internet access to keep up with the business at home and we wanted something within walking distance of some of the local attractions so that we wouldn?t have to drive everywhere.
After narrowing down our choices, we selected the Avista Resort and we couldn?t have made a better selection.
The Avista Resort had everything we were looking for in a resort. They offer high speed, wireless internet, swimming pools, hot tubs, a lazy river, an onsite restaurant, and a great exercise room. The Web site gave us the option of making our reservations online, which was quick and easy, and provided us with immediate confirmation.
When we arrived at the resort, check in was a breeze and we were on our way to our suite within fifteen minutes. The room was everything we had hoped for and more. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bedroom had an extremely comfortable king size bed, and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. The staff at the Avista was always courteous and ready to help with any questions we had and they made our stay as comfortable as possible.
When we returned home to our business, work seemed to go smoother and the daily issues didn?t seem so overwhelming anymore. The vacation was exactly what we needed. All work and no play can really put a strain on not only yourself, but on your relationships with those around you.
Owning a business is a privilege that many people will never get to experience and even though the responsibilities seem endless you have to make time for a life outside of work. What is the point of being successful if you aren?t able to enjoy life?s rewards for a job well done?

Winter Driving Tips

Winter Driving Tips

With the winter weather closing in and coating the UK in a nice fresh layer of snow here are some tips on safe driving in icy and snowy conditions. Winter conditions are probably the most hazardous that a driver can experience in the UK, with a mix of ice, snow and limited visibility it’s essential to ensure that your car is well maintained and that you are prepared for your journey.

Before winter hits:

There are a few things that you should check on your car before the winter months close in:

Antifreeze

The important thing to remember with the antifreeze in your car is to check your levels and to check the manual provided with the vehicle for the type of antifreeze that is required. Some antifreezes do not mix well together and can form a “sludge” that can clog up your engine and can lead to irreparable damage.

Tyre Tread

Ensuring that your tyre tread is of a reasonable depth will ensure that you maintain as much grip on the road as possible, reducing the chances of losing control of the car.

Lights

Visibility is an important part of safe and sensible driving, making sure that your lights are in good working order will improve your chances of seeing any potential hazards.

Before setting off in wintry conditions:

Check traffic and weather reports by checking with the latest reports you can allow additional time for driving and see whether there are any potential accident black spots or roads to avoid.

Warm your car up

Quite simply, there’s nothing worse than sitting shivering in your car.

Clear windows and mirrors

Scraping the ice and snow from your windscreen and mirrors frees up your view, enables you to see other traffic behind you and with the increased visibility improves your chance of reacting to any problems that can happen.

Check your washer levels

Your washers help clear your windows from spray being kicked up from other traffic, this will usually contain parts of the grit and salt that are laid

Whilst driving:

Allow additional room for braking When driving in snow it is almost impossible to stop at the same rate that you would need to on a road under normal conditions, so allow up to 10 times as much room as you would normally allow for bringing your car to a stop.

Smooth driving

Sharp, sudden movements in your car on slippery surfaces is always ill advised, even more so when the road is icy. By keeping your driving smooth and changing your speed steadily you will maintain control of your car and severely reduce the chances of you being involved in an accident.

One final point is to make sure that you have a winter emergency kit in your car boot (containing a shovel, a tow rope, jump leads, spare tyre and a warning triangle) just in case you do end having to park your car up and wait until the conditions clear. It may also be a good idea to take a blanket, wellington boots (or other suitable outdoor footwear) and a torch. If you follow these instructions then hopefully you can look forwards to safe driving throughout the winter.

If you are using car hire then it is always best to make sure that you are aware of local laws for using appropriate tyres and any requirements that your hire company have.
