Tips for choosing the best travel agency

Tips for choosing the best travel agency

Your vacation time is coming up. Most of us get just one lengthy vacation each year. You want to get the most out of your time and hard-earned money. Getting a good price on airfare and accommodations leaves more money for sightseeing and shopping. Unless you’re an expert researcher – who enjoys doing the research – you’ll do well to consult a travel agency to help you make your arrangements. Using a travel agency frees up your valuable time and assures a smoothly coordinated trip. This is particularly true with the new restrictions in etiquette and luggage contents now imposed on travelers.
How do you know the travel agency you choose is reputable? There are two excellent signatures. Recommendations from seasoned travelers who use the same travel agency again and again are highly credible. Another earmark of a reputable travel agency is membership in ASTA, the American Society of Travel Agents. ASTA agents are provided education through seminars and industry events which keep them on the cutting edge of the latest travel requirements and resources with which to best serve their customers. Now, let’s take a look at some of the other advantages of the travel agency.
Whether you’re taking a short trip or traveling overseas, the reputable travel agency is equipped to organize your trip to your maximum advantage. They’ve got the inside scoop on the snarly details of travel which might have a significant impact on your trip. For example, were you aware that you might run into serious trouble with authorities if you are traveling out of country with your own child? A good travel agency will advise a letter of consent from the other parent be packed along with your passport. Just imagine the other problems you can avoid with the expertise of a knowledgeable agent.
Although there are online airfare bookings that can save you money, you can also go crazy trying to find the best deal. When you do finally book, it’s entirely possible you’ll see a much better fare tomorrow. A good travel agency has all of those databases down, with the latest promotions at their fingertips.
Another super benefit of the travel agency is that they get feedback and excellent tidbits from the customers they talk with every day.  They can give you tips on transportation, activities and etiquette in foreign countries that you may not find on your own in a shelf full of travel books.
A travel agency provides personal service. Let the agent know what you’re looking to get out of your travel experience. The agent can tailor your trip arrangements to your style and pocketbook in an unbiased, professional way for the results you want. They are there to please you.
Finally, should you encounter problems on your trip, your travel agent is your professional back-up and will step in to iron out the wrinkles and get you back on track.
When you’re going on vacation, don’t leave home without the services of a travel agency!

Tips, Deals and Trips: Blow Off Steam Without Blowing Your Wallet

Tips, Deals and Trips: Blow Off Steam Without Blowing Your Wallet

If you look at a recent graph of the stock market it is difficult not to think about a roller coaster. Every day someone I know is either on the verge of losing their job or knows somebody who was laid off. Simply put, these times are stressful. I think my brother put it best, “Everyday I wake up and worry about how I am going to take care of my family.”

After thinking about the current economic dilemma for a few days, I came to a conclusion: If we are going to have to tighten our belts, we may as well blow off some steam doing it. During the most stressful financial times it is important to remember that there are so many deals available from companies trying to drum up business. Frankly, we would be foolish not to take advantage of them.

Let’s start with food. There is nothing like a good meal to help us relax. There are a number of restaurants out there trying to push a new dish or get people through the door. As we all know, the internet tends to bring information to the masses. One site I have found helpful looking for great deals on restaurants was a blog called Money Saving Mom. The author, Crystal Paine, is a mother of two that knows a thing or two about stretching a dollar when it comes to going out to dinner with the family.

Getting places is another area that we could all use some savings advice. As a part time global warming preacher myself, I always recommend using Google Transit to navigate public transportation and make the most of your day-to-day traveling budget. If you do drive a car then you may have noticed the dropping price of gas. The one problem with price drops is that some locations tend to have stickier prices than others. To make the most out of your gas budget I always tell people to check out Gas Buddy.com to find the stations near you with the absolute best prices.

Taking a vacation is the next area where I pride myself on saving a buck or two. Generally speaking I try and go ‘somewhere’ every few weeks. Many times we end up staying near home, but at least we are out of the house. I am personally a big fan of camping. I think every family should go out camping a few times a year. One site I rely on for tips on great camping spots is GreatCampingSpots.com. The site has a ton of resources on finding and booking the best campgrounds around the country.

If you are looking for a more pampered vacation or just don’t feel like breaking out the tent then I have a few tips for you as well. Generally when I make the decision to reward myself with a real getaway I try as hard as I can not to break the bank in the process. While it may sound generic, Orbitz.com has some great deals on the Orbitz Deal Page. They do a great job of pulling together some interesting cost effective trips. I must confess, my family also owns timeshare. In the long run we feel like it ends up saving us money because we travel so much. There are quite a few sites on the web that offer Cheap Vacations in return for attending a resort presentation for timeshare. Many times these deals include extras such as free rounds of golf, dinner for two or even theme park tickets.

As a self professes rollercoaster junkie I can’t leave out great deals on theme parks. If you are looking for great ticket deals on major parks, check out this recent About.com article. The author tells you all sorts of tips and trick for scoring great deals to the top parks.

With all these great channels to blow off steam without blowing your wallet, make sure you take some time to smile. Life is too long and these times will eventually pass. Make sure you get your proper dose of rest and relaxation.

Vail : Top reasons to ski Vail

Vail : Top reasons to ski Vail

Vail Colorado is perhaps the most desired place to ski or ride in the nation. Nested in the rockies of colorado Vail is famous for its Champagne powder, lively nightlife and breathtaking scenery. I have complied here some facts and reason why Vail should be at the top of your list when considering a ski vacation in the rockies.

Reason 1) Location. Vail is approximately 98 miles up the I-70 interstate from Denver, Colorado making it about an hour and forty minute drive from the airport if you fly into Denver International Airport. After a long flight to colorado its nice to know only a short drive awaits you to reach your winter wonderland. Vail, is surrounded by other ski resort such as A-Basin, Keystone, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, and Breckenridge allowing a very large degree of variety if you want to ski other resorts in colorado during your stay.

Reason 2) Snow. Vail has what we call champagne powder. Because of Vail’s high base altitude of 8,120ft and very cold winter conditions the water freezes rapidly when forming snow keeping the flakes very small and solid. Basically the opposite of ‘Slush’ snow ‘champagne’ powder is light and easy to ski or ride through. Its more forgiving to the beginner while learning to ski too! Not only is the snow great there happens to be alot of it, Vail receives about 400 inches a year.

Reason 3) Terrain. Vail is HUGE, you can literally ski Vail all day long and not ride the same run twice. With 193 runs covering 5,289 acres there is skiing for everyone. Nearly 47% of the terrain is for beginners to intermediate skiers while the remaining 53% is back country and expert runs. It has one of the longest runs in the country at a length of 4 miles and 2 terrain parks for the snowboarders in your group.

If these reasons aren’t enough for you also take in mind prices this year are more reasonable than ever!
