EVEREST HIGH VALLEY

EVEREST HIGH VALLEY

This is an outstanding trek, which passes the high valleys of the Khumbu. You get to explore villages and monasteries and to sample the incredible hospitality of the Sherpa people. Flying from Kathmandu to Lukla we follow the Dudh Kosi valley up to the Sherpa capital of Namche. We have time here to acclimatize, before following the quiet trail to Thame village in the Bhote Koshi valley.
Descending to Khumjung, we are treated to incredible views of Kantega and Thamserku and the Nuptse-Lhotse wall with Everest so realistic above. At Khumjung we camp below Khumbila Peak, home of the patron God of the Khumbu, before continuing up the Dudh Kosi valley to Gokyo’s alpine lakes and an ascent of Gokyo Ri. The views from here are tremendous, a 360 degree panorama of snow-capped peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and Cho Oyu.
From Gokyo, instead of climbing high pass of Cho La (5330m) we take lower route along the valley and rejoin the main trail to Everest Base Camp via Phortse. Our route provides a magnificent approach to the Khumbu glacier with unbelievable vistas of the surrounding peaks and glaciers.

We follow the Khumbu glacier, first to Lobuche and then to Gorak Shep. Our camp here gives us the opportunity to ascend Kala Pattar for even more fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. We also have a day to visit Everest Base Camp, at the foot of the Khumbu Icefall. Our descent will then take us to Dingboche in the Imja valley, before returning to Lukla via Thyangboche and Namche. A flight back to Kathmandu concludes a very unique and memorable trek to the roof of the world.

This trip can be done during March to May [spring] and September to December [autumn].

Tips To Enjoy A Domestic Summer Holiday

Tips To Enjoy A Domestic Summer Holiday

There’s much talk of financial matters at the moment – if it’s not the continuing credit crunch on home shores then it’s the weakening of the pound against the euro. However, by taking advantage of the latter you can do your bit to help with the former.
Travelling in the eurozone at the moment means that Britons aren’t going to get as much for their money as they would have in recent times and it’s also true that they could get better value for money by staying in the UK.
Older generations often tell their stories from the summer holidays they spent in Britain and they have invariably had a good time. Old photos and postcards show of times when our own beaches were full, but this seems to be a thing of the past as it has become trendy to be well-travelled and to have seen far off lands.
It is, however, predicted that travelling around the UK is to rise and with so much on offer it’s difficult to see why it stopped being so popular.
For beach trips, Blackpool and Brighton are the obvious hotspots. With fairground attractions and donkey rides galore, they make a great day out for the whole family. If you want a quieter spot, the south coast of England has a myriad of beaches and is normally the hottest part of the country. Beaches near the smaller villages are generally quieter so there are plenty of options.
If you’re looking for an even quieter spot – approaching isolation – then the highlands and islands of Scotland can offer remote spots to allow you to find nature. The locations often have a friendly atmosphere and welcoming locals, as well as beautiful scenery to allow for long, peaceful strolls through the countryside.
Sporting events were always popular and with the npower Ashes coming to England this year you can make a city break to take in the cricket – whether you want to go to London, Cardiff, Birmingham or Leeds is up to you. Aside from cricket, these cities all have a host of other attractions from the modern back to the historic to keep you entertained.
Of course, there are other attractions dotted around the country. Stonehenge on the Salisbury Plains is a must-see while Cheddar Gorge in Somerset and the Snowdonia National Park in north Wales are often wrongly overlooked by busy tourists.
As you can see, there are many different ways to enjoy a summer holiday in Great Britain, all at the fraction of a cost of an expensive foreign vacation.

Exeter Airport Car Hire

Exeter Airport Car Hire

If you are traveling in the United Kingdom and your business takes you to the town of Exeter, then you will undoubtedly be landing at the Exeter International Airport. The airport is located in Devon county, where the town of Exeter is also located. This mid-size airport, which was actually a World War 2 landing strip for the RAF, maintains an elegant appearance and has been modified in recent times to accommodate international travel.
Most travelers coming to Exeter may not have friends and family and their main purpose for the visit would be business. While Exeter does boast super public transport and taxi cab service, the best way to get around is by renting a car. This allow freedom and convenience and in some cases can even be cheaper than public transportation, which may be slower and more troublesome.
Another reason why it can end up being more convenient is because there is yet no direct train from Exeter Airport and therefore car rental becomes the transportation of choice for many tourists and business people. The closest train station is Exeter St Davis and from here one can connect to other major cities such as Manchester.
The most popular cars available for rental are the economy class motor vehicles which boast a better gas mileage and are therefore a better bargain as far as money is concerned. For those with more exotic tastes, luxury cars such as Mercedes are also available for rental although the price will definitely be steeper. Self-drive mini vans are also available for those who will be ferrying more than just their luggage.
To expedite your car rental at Exeter, it is recommended that you have your passport ready and a form of payment preferably an acceptable Visa credit card or Mastercard. Other forms of payments can be acceptable but you may want to check with the rental manager before presenting this as a form of payment. These can be other cards other than MasterCard, cards that are not international and checks which are drawn on international banks.
Exeter International Airport is served by car rental companies such as the 1and1 car rental which has a reputation for quality and professionalism across the UK. Others include Alamo which has an international reputation. Avis and Eurocar. These are also accredited to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), which is the umbrella body that oversees car rental firms in the UK.
Car rental rates at the Exeter airport vary based on the company that you choose to rent the vehicle from and also the type of vehicle being rented. The duration of your stay with the vehicle will also determine how much you pay. As we saw earlier, renting luxury vehicles will also cost more than if one was renting a regular 4-seater.
Renting a vehicle at Exeter is quite affordable and competitive by world standards. It is between 80-100 pounds a week depending on whether the firms are running any specials.
